What good installation looks like
Modern curb-mounted and deck-mounted skylights with manufacturer flashing kits, installed with proper step flashing and ice-and-water barrier, are extremely reliable. Problems come from improvised flashing, sealant-only installs (sealant is a maintenance item, not a waterproofing plan), and old single-pane units past their lifespan.
Replacing during a re-roof
